tHe lAsT dAnCe...

Two weeks from now, UP High will once again hold its yearly Junior- Senior Promenade. It is a time of the year where the juniors and the seniors bond together and have a good time. Last February 17, 2006 was my first promenade and I had a wonderful time experiencing that especially that I shared it with my batch mates and the seniors. At first, I was nervous especially during the afternoon practices because we practice how to walk with our partners. During the first week of the practices I never talked to my partner because I thought he was hostile and he won't talk to me because he was a senior. I don't really expect that he will talk to me especially because of what happened during the past Intramural games where we had petty fights. Besides during those times, I guess he was having a fun time talking to his friends. But as the days of practices passed, i learned that he was not really that hostile at all. He was just shy, just like me because he too was afraid that I might not talk to him too.
During the Prom night, I was very nervous because I don't know what will happen eventually during the night. But everything went well as what we have practiced. I learned there that men really became gentlemen during that night. They were gentleman enough to make the girls get some food first before getting food for themselves. There was also a rule that the man should never leave his partber alone so it means that he must accompany his partner wherever she goes. I was surprised that my partner was really such a gentleman to accompany me wherever I go. And I was also surprised to see my guy classmates do the same thing too.
The dancing part came and I was also surprised that everybody was alraedy dancing and was really having a fun time. We were all dancing with the seniors and it felt like we somehow forgot the past happenings during the Intramurals.
I guess during every prom, everybody looks forward for the last dance. They say that you should have your last dance with a person really special and close to your heart. But sadly, I didn't find anyone special to my heart to share my last dance with but instead I shared it with a friend. But eventhough I am still happy to see my classmates and batchmates to share the last dance with the ones they really consider special.
Now, we're going to celebrate another promenade but I'm not looking forward for that last dance. But instead, I'm looking forward for the fun and excitement that I had last year. I hope to have a more exciting and nicer prom this year so that I can keep it in my treasure box.
