A tEaChEr's dAy oFf...

KYSD or the Know Your School Day is a time of the year where students have a chance to be teachers or to be memvers of the UPHS staff and faculty. It is also a chance to experience the life of a teacher or as a staff even for a day or two. KYSD is also a program of the Student Council of UP High. Students become the teachers while the teachers are also given a chance to at least rest for awhile from teaching the students.
Last January 24, 2007, KYSD officially opened with the blessings of the SC president and of the UP faculty and staff. ID's were given to students who applied for the positions they desired and the key of responsibilty was also given to the student principals and staff as a sign that they are already the ones responsible of the school and especially of the students.
For four years I have already been joining the KYSD and I find it really fun and exciting. I find it nice because at least once a year I have the chance to experience the life being a teacher- studying the lessons and preparing something for your students and stuffs like that. But with this I also am responsible for the welfare of my students because I am already their teacher so I should still maintain order in my class as much as possible. But truly, maintaining order and controlling your students is not really that easy because you must also be a good leader and show to them that you can also be responsible enough to be a teacher.
Being a teacher does not only mean sharing the lessons that you should discuss. You must also be able to share what you know, how you react on certain things, how you feel and be able to respond to your students' emotions. As a teacher you must also know how to have a connection between you and your students.

I admire teachers very much because they are the ones who shape our knowledge as an individual while in school and they also help you succeed in life. Though many times, our teachers scold us I think we should even thank them for that because like our parents, our teachers also want us to be in the good side and not go astray. Through the years, our teachers have already been sharing everything they know and instilling into our minds the important lessons in life. Lessons in life can't be found in books. They are being experienced and I'm glad that our teachers let us experience those things and to let us stand in our own feet. Sharing what they know and what they have is their passion.

Our teachers are our second parents and we learn a lot from them and we even admire them for everything that they have taught us. As the years pass and as the number of students graduate from UPHS increases, they grow more as a person not only learning from their experiences but also learning from us too. As our teachers would say, its a give and take cycle- we learn from them, they also learn from us.

This is my senior year now and I would like to grab the opportunity to thank our teachers. I want to thank them for everything they have shared. I'd like to thank them for always being there for us, their students and for never giving up on us. I'd also like to thank them for the patience and time that they heve been spending on us. I also thank them for their hardwork and perseverance because if not for that, we might not be able to acquire the knowledge we have and the lessons in life that we now know through them. Those lessons in life are the most important tools in life which we may use for survival. I'd also like to thank them for the laughters and the tears we have all been sharing throughout these years. I just hope that as we move forward to our own lives, we may never forget every little thing you taught us.

By the way, here is the copy of the song which I personally composed for the tribute for the teachers. This was the tribute song of the seniors to the teachers. This is a song of thanks to everything they taught us. I don't really have a title for it but I guess I'd just call it the KYSD theme. Here it goes:

KYSD Theme

I. We, never thought we'd come this far
Never realized it all
The prints we made as we pass the sands of time

II. And you, showed us the way and led us there
Gave us the love and care and shared
Those memories, in our hearts will never leave

Chorus:
Now we say to you, thank you for everything
For all the teachings and knowledge you have shared
And now we say to you
We're grateful that we have you
For all the times that we need you
Thank You..
If not for you we won't be here now saying thank you

III. We've been through a lot all of these years
But through those times we're at our worst
You never left us and encouraged us

IV. And now, as we face the road ahead
We hope to still see you there again
As we move forward and as we try to reach our dreams

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
Though we have never been that good enough for you
We're glad you still believed us and carried us all through

(Repeat Chorus twice)
